The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) is devoted to theoretical and empirical research in Development Economics in general and on Pakistan-related economic issues in particular. PIDE is located at the Quaid-i-Azam University campus in Islamabad.
In November 2006, PIDE was granted the degree awarding status and hence the institute is focused to provide quality education which is affordable but of world class standard in this region along with a truly stimulating learning environment. Repec ranked PIDE as number one institute in Pakistan and among the top 10% of Asian institutes.
Pakistan Institute of Development Economics has state of the art computing and library facilities. It provides hostel facility for outstation students and transport facility in twin cities.
Research assistantships, merit and need based scholarships are also available to students of PIDE.

Admission Eligibility
Admission eligibility for Ph.D. is:
- Candidates possessing MS / M.Phil. degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Demography, Mathematics or Statistics with a minimum of 3.0/4.0 CGPA from a recognized University.
- In Service applicants are required to submit the No Objection Certificate issued by the employers before the beginning of academic session.
Admission eligibility for M.Phil. / MS is:
- A minimum of 3.0 CGPA / B grade or 2nd Division in Master’s or 4 years Bachelors from a recognized university,
Admission eligibility for M.Sc. / MBA is:
- For the Master’s programs a minimum of 2nd Division or B grade is required in Bachelors from a recognized University.

- Download Application Form from PIDE website.
- Send complete and duly signed applications forms.
- Attach a Bank draft of Rs.700 in favor of Pakistan Institute of Development Economics
- For any 2nd application, attach an additional draft of Rs.300.
