University of the Punjab: Admissions 2010-11

University of the Punjab has invited applications on prescribed forms for admission in Master (M.A./M.Sc. 2-years) program for Session 2010-2011 in the following departments/disciplines.

— Allama Iqbal (Old) Campus

M.A. Kashmir Studies, Persian, Punjabi, Urdu, College of Banking & Finance, Art & Design (Painting).

M.Sc. Information Technology, Geographical Information System, Sports Sciences/Physical Education.

— Quaid-e-Azam Campus

M.A. Administrative Sciences, Archaeology, Hailey College of Commerce, English, Sociology, Gender Studies, Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, Library & Information Science, Communication Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Social Work, Special Education, Arabic, French, Law.

M.Sc. Applied Psychology, Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Coal Technology, Economics, Environmental Sciences (Applied Hydrology, Tourism & Hospitality Management), Geography, Mathematics, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, Computational Physics (CHEP), Physics, Space Science, Statistical & Actuarial Sciences, Integrated Mountain Research, Seismology (Geology), Zoology.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with B.A./B.Sc. (14 Yrs of Education) or equivalent qualification with at least 2nd Division and age not more than 26 years are eligible.

Admission Forms

Prescribed forms shall be available free of cost from Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in the respective departments as well as from the following Branches of Habib Bank Limited:

  • Azad Road , Sargodha
  • Railway Road , Faisalabad
  • Commercial Center Satellite Town , Rawalpindi.
  • Bank Square , Gujranwala
  • Main Branch, D.G.Khan
  • Main Branch, Mirpur, AJK
  • Farid Gate , Bahawalpur
  • Railway Road , Sheikhupura
  • Main Branch, Muzaffarabad, AJK
  • Jinnah Chowk, Sahiwal
  • Railway Road , Kasur
  • Hussain Agahi, Main Branch, Multan

Forms complete in all respects must reach the concerned departments by Monday, August 30, 2010 during office hours.

Testimonials (not necessarily attested) should be attached with the application form. Incomplete forms shall not be entertained.

50% seats are reserved for graduates from Punjab University and rest 50% shall be filled on open merit basis.

Entry Test

Clearance of Entry Test is mandatory for all the merit and reserved seats for admissions in the following departments:

Banking & Finance, Insurance & Risk Management, Information Technology (PUCIT), Geographical Information System (GIS), Environmental Sciences (Applied Hydrology, Tourism & Hospitality Management), Statistical & Actuarial Sciences, Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Applied Psychology, Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, Social & Cultural Studies (Sociology), English, Computational Physics (CHEP), Integrated Mountain Research, Sports Sciences/Physical Education.

For these departments admission merit shall be worked out on 70% academics and 30% Entry Test performance basis. University is not bound to provide hostel accommodation to each and every admitted student. Limited available accommodation shall be allotted on merit basis.

Admissions on Sports Basis

1. 2% seats have been reserved for admission on Sports basis. Outstanding players who have played at least at Pakistan Inter Board or Inter University level shall be considered to take part in the trials; other shall not be considered for sports trials.

2. The sports basis admission form must be obtained and submitted in the concerned department within due date.

3. No separate intimation letter will be sent to the candidate by Punjab University Sports Department for Sports Trails. Please contact concerned department or Punjab University Sports Department (Old Campus) for the date, time and venue for the sports trial.

The preference order for admissions shall be as follows:

i) 1st Annual, 2010 & 2nd Annual, 2009

ii) 1st Annual, 2009 & 2nd Annual, 2008

iii) 1st Annual, 2008 & 2nd Annual, 2007
