UET Students Selected to Represent Pakistan at Microsoft Imagine Cup 2010

Microsoft Imagine Cup is a worldwide student technology competition which challenges students to imagine a better world enabled by their own genius, creativity and energy, and provides opportunities for participation in the future of technology, software and Computing. Teams develop innovative projects that offer practical applicability and present real-world solutions to real-world problems.

In the nationals of Imagine Cup 2010, team PAKTech from University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore has been selected to represent Pakistan in worldwide finals.

Team PAKTech developed an economical multi-touch surface under the supervision of Muhammad Awais Hassan.

This is an economical multi-touch surface i.e. having the ability to detect single and multiple fingers simultaneously. Single touch can operate the windows mouse and through multi-touch various collaborative and interactive work could be performed, for instance improving the quality of primary education through interactive courses, inculcating the spirit of learning among youth.

Team PAKTech consist of five members as follows:

  • Saba Sarwat 2006-CSE-46
  • Sobia Amjad 2006-CSE-81

They have also won following competitions held at the national level:

  • SOFTCOM 2010, GIKI Topi [1st]
  • Seecom 2010, UET Lahore [2nd]
  • Nascon 2010, FAST Islamabad [2nd]
  • SEE 2010, PAFKIET Karachi [3rd]
