Mirpur University of Science and Technology: MS/PhD Overseas Scholarships for 2012

Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has offered overseas scholarships to study for the following academic programs:

1. PhD – Full Foreign (4 years)
2. PhD – Local + Foreign (2+2 years)
3. MS – Full Foreign (2 years)

Applications are invited from AJK / AJK refugees / Pakistani nationals for the award of 50 scholarships in the following fields for MS (full foreign), PhD (local + foreign), PhD (full foreign), MS (full foreign), PhD (local + foreign) and PhD (full foreign).

Scholarships in selected discipline for higher studies in one of the following countries:

• Austria
• United Kingdom (UK)
• Thailand
• Sweden
• South Korea
• Germany
• China
• Malaysia
• France
• Australia
• Any other country / university subsequently identified by Higher Education Commission (HEC)

Eligibility Criteria

1. AJK /AJK refugees/ Pakistani nationals.
2. Candidates must have minimum sixteen years of education.
3. Maximum two second divisions throughout the academic career.
4. Maximum age on April 20, 2012:
   1. 40 years for full time faculty members of public sector universities/colleges and employees the public sector R&D organizations.
   2. 35 years for all others.
5. The candidate must have obtained 50 or above marks (Accumulative Test Score) in the GAT (General) Test valid up to April 20, 2012.
6. The candidates who are already availing any other scholarship are not eligible to apply.
7. The candidate must have acquired the requisite qualification on or before April 20, 2012.

Application Procedure

The following documents are required to be submitted along with the printed copy of application form:

• Attested photocopies of all educational testimonials
• Attested photocopy of CNIC
• CV/Resume
• 03 recent passport size photos
• Research proposal
• Attested copy of GAT (General) result card
• Application form can be downloaded from Mirpur University of Science and Technology website
• Original online deposit slip of Rs.500 (non-refundable) in favor of the Treasurer, Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Mirpur, HBL Main Branch Mirpur, as processing fee.

Important Notes

1. All scholarships will be awarded on open merit (AJK nationals will be preferred).
2. Government employees should apply through proper channel.
3. For full PhD, candidates having MS / MPhil degree (18 years education) will be preferred.
4. Candidates are required to make sure whether their field of subject is being offered in their choice of country / university, otherwise candidate will not be considered for interview.
5. Candidates are required to indicate the countries / universities of their choice in order of preference in the application form. Mirpur University of Science and Technology reserves the right to re-allocate any country / university to the candidate.
6. Only short listed candidates will be called for interview.
7. Awardees have to execute a bond with the Mirpur University of Science and Technology to serve up to 5 years after completion of studies.
8. Average tuition fee at US$10,000 per annum and stipend US$1,200 per month will be paid.
9. Scholarship will not be awarded where tuition fee is more than US$10,000. In any case individual undertaking will not be accepted.
10. Candidates already applied in response to advertisement dated September 27, 2011 need not to apply again. However, they can submit any latest document without fee.
11. Scholars can also be placed in best universities of world with assistance of Higher Education Commission.

Last date for receipt of applications

Printed copy of application form completed in all respects should reach Project Director, Mirpur University of Science and Technology, latest by April 20, 2012 through registered mail or courier service. By hand/ incomplete/ applications received after due date will not be entertained.
