IBA Karachi MBA Admissions 2010

The Institute of Business Administration Karachi offers MBA (Morning) and MBA (Evening) programs in the best possible learning and development environment to produce world-class ethical, competent and socially sensitive business leaders.

MBA Morning Program

The IBA offers full time two-year MBA program at the Main Campus and the City Campus. The program consists of 13 core courses, 9 electives and 1 MBA project.

Total of 72 credit hours are needed to complete the MBA program. Minimum of 4 electives are needed to complete a major in a specialized field (Marketing, Management, Finance, Human Resource Management or MIS).

Students will also be required to complete 6-week summer internship.

MBA Evening Program

The IBA offers the MBA Evening program at its City Campus. The duration of the program varies depending on the capacity of the student to complete the course load during each semester.

The minimum time allowed is 2-1/2 years while the maximum duration for completing the program is 7 years. The evening program consists of 12 core courses and 12 electives.

Total of 72 credit hours are needed to complete the MBA Evening program. Minimum of 4 electives are required to complete a major in a specialized field (Marketing, Management, Finance, Human Resource Management or MIS).

Prospective Students

The IBA would prefer the following target groups to apply for its MBA Programs:

  1. Engineers, Doctors, Designers, Artists, Corporate Professionals, Ex-Army Officers, Professionals with BE, M.Com, BBA and B.Sc. degrees
  2. Professionals with MBA from second or third ranked universities
  3. Local Entrepreneurs, and energetic & ambitious youth belonging to the business families
  4. Women Professionals and Entrepreneurs and anyone else who has talent and strong desire to nurture it for an accomplished professional career


Since its inception, the IBA has been blessed with a singularly successful faculty with tremendous academic achievements and extensive practical business management experience. Well-regarded for their deep insight and command over current issues facing business and industry, the IBA faculty members have frequently been invited to participate in seminars, symposiums, discussions and conferences, across the country and abroad.

Admission Criteria

Applicants to the MBA programs must have:

  • Minimum 16 years of education
  • Minimum 60% marks at terminal level or minimum 2.50 (on a scale of 4.00) CGPA, where applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

  • Organizational Behavior and Leadership
  • Excel for Business Managers (Non-Credit Core)

Semester 2

  • Accounting for Decision-making
  • Business Finance II
  • Advanced and Applied Business Research
  • Quantitative Method for Decision-making
  • Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business
  • Global Economics and Political Environment

Semester 3

  • MBA Project (Core)
  • Minimum Five courses from Electives

Semester 4

  • MBA Project (Core)
  • Business Strategy (Core)
  • Minimum Four courses from Electives
  • Personal Effectiveness and Communication (Non-Credit Core)

Fee Structure

Following is the IBA fee structure effective Fall 2010.

Lab & Library ChargesRs. 2,500

All above fees, totaling to Rs.107,600, are per semester. One time Admission Fee of Rs. 10,000 is also charged.


The IBA offers scholarships to students who need financial assistance. Any intending student who qualifies the admission requirements is not refused admission because of inability to afford the cost of the program. Financial assistance is provided after determining the need level.

Admission Guidelines

IBA Admission test will be held in various cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar.
