King Edward Medical University: Admission to MD/MS Programs for April 2011 Intake

King Edward Medical University (KEMU), Lahore, is offering admission to 4-5 years MD/MS programs (terminal qualifications in clinical subjects) in the following disciplines for the session starting from April 2011.

  4. MD (Neurology)
  5. MD (Pediatrics)
  6. MD (Psychiatry)
  7. MD (Cardiology)
  8. MD (Radiology)
  9. MD (Preventive Medicine)
  10. MD (Family Medicine)
  11. MD (Oncology/Radiotherapy)

MS Programs

  1. MS (Ear, Nose and Throat)
  2. MS (General Surgery)
  3. MS (Neurosurgery)
  4. MS (Obst. and Gynecology)
  5. MS (Ophthalmology)
  6. MS (Orthopedic Surgery)
  7. MS (Pediatric Surgery)
  8. MS (Thoracic Surgery)
  9. MS (Urology)
  10. MS (Anesthesia)
  11. MS (Cardiac Surgery)


  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualifications recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
  • Valid PMDC registration certificate.
  • Certificate of completion of one year House Job.

Preparatory Course

Non-mandatory Part-I preparatory course will be held at King Edward Medical University from January 31, 2011 to February 28, 2011.

Part-I Examination

Part-I Examination will be held on March 22, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Library Hall, King Edward Medical University, Lahore.

The candidates intending to apply for MS in ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Ophthalmology will have separate Part-I Examination on the same date.

All candidates intending to apply for other specialties of MS or MD will have a common Part-I examination.

Important Dates and Fee

  • Last date of applications for Part-I preparatory course is January 24, 2011 along with course fee Rs.3,500 (non-refundable).
  • Last date of applications for Part-I Examination is March 10, 2011 with examination fee Rs.2,500 (non-refundable).
  • The successful candidates of King Edward Medical University Part-I Examination will submit their applications for admission into MD/MS program up to April 4, 2011.
  • Processing fee with applications is Rs.2,500 (non-refundable).
  • Admission/Registration for MD/MS program will be according to availability of training slots for applicants fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

No stipend, accommodation is promised by the university.

At present for my MPhil thesis analysis I m in the USA at the George Washington University,DC,USA under invitation of prof Brandon Kohrt FOR MY RESEARCH RELATED TO Depression among diabetics and quality of life
    Sir my MPhil course completes by JULY,2012. Then I want to pursue my MD gastroenterology from your esteemed institution KEMU. Actually my are of intrest if endocrine and metabolism but since there is no MD in endocrine at KEMU the nearest possible subject could be gastroenterology as soon as diabetes is concerned.Since I have a degree in epidemilogy with thesis in diabetes,I think gastro option by me is good one!What you think sir.. During my gasto MD studies can I do other research as well at KEMU since I wanna use my research methodology ,statistics and epidemiology knowledge even when I m doing MD-GASTRO.. Sir could I get your email ID sir so that I can show you my research of Mphil that what I m about to finish now! My cousin is doing MBBS at Fatima Jinna med college under Pakistan embassy scholarships and she is in 3rd year now.

    Dear sIR, i am a student of Beaconhouse School System and strongly opt for KEMU. I am doing my G C E O levels and will do A levels in future, but many people say that KEMU have minute no. of seats for A level students as their percentage is low as compared with Fsc students..Please tell me that is that true and the further eligibilities..plz

    Dear collegues,
    KEMU is one of the most prestigious institutes of pakistan, affiliated with Mayo hospital 2000 beded (500) beded surgical tower is under construction, Lady wallingdon hospital almost 350 beded and lady Aitchison hospital almost 75 beded. Kemu waS established in 1877. As far as stipend is concerned MD and MS students do get stipend. Accommodation is also available however both things are not promised. Pakistani government has increased stipend to 44,000 pak rupees.
